Caption: Greater celandine (Chelidonium majus) flowers on leaves. All parts of the plant are poisonous, damaging the liver and nervous system when taken in large quantities. As well as this, the sap can cause contact dermatitis if it touches the skin. However, the plant has long been used in traditional herbal medicine. The sap is used to treat warts and fungal skin infections such as ringworm. Infusions made from the plant are taken as a narcotic and a diuretic, and are known to induce sweating.
