This image is part of the sequence Healthcare: Woman undergoes breast enlargement and abdominal reduction (tummy tuck) in cosmetic surgery

Caption: Cosmetic breast and abdominal surgery. Image 26 of 28. Cosmetic surgeons operating on a middle-aged woman undergoing breast enlargement and abdominal sculpturing. They are now in the abdominoplasty stage, after finishing the breasts. An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), is a procedure where excess fat and skin is removed from the lower abdomen and the muscles of the abdominal walls are tightened. Here, the excess skin and fat has been excised and the underlying muscles have been stitched to tighten them. The surgeons are now stapling together the ends of the opening. For a series showing the entire surgical procedure, see images M590/498 - M590/525.
