Ruptured breast implant. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of a side-view of a ruptured silicone breast implant. The silicone (dark grey) has breached the implant membrane and leaked into the surrounding tissue. This is a subglandular implant, where the implant is placed over the pectoralis muscle. Approximately fifty per cent of all implants rupture after twelve years.
