Caption: Tormentil flowers (Potentilla erecta). This plant is a good indicator-plant for when the soil is lacking in lime nutrients. A lotion is made from the dried root and used to stop bleeding and treat diarrhea. It is also used as a painkiller and as a source of red dye. Photographed in June, at the Cairngorms National Park, Highlands Region, Scotland, UK.
