Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease affecting the exocrine glands. Among other effects, this causes an obstruction of the bronchi by a thick mucus. Treatment is by regular home physiotherapy, backed up with clinic visits. Complications may include severe respiratory infections. Other effects of the disease are obstruction of the intestine and pancreas.
