Caption: Nasonex spray for nasal rhinitis. Nasonex comes in the form of an aqueous suspension, within a pump dispenser. The nozzle of the dispenser is placed in the nostril, then the plunger is pressed down whilst the user inhales. The spray then reaches far into the nasal passages. Nasonex contains the active ingredient mometasone furoate, which is a type corticosteroid (a derivative of corticosteroid hormones that are produced naturally by the adrenal glands). Corticosteroids control inflammatory responses and therefore are used in the localised treatment of allergic rhinitis (nasal allergies). Each 'puff' delivers 50 micrograms of the drug.
