Caption: Chorisia speciosa, the floss-silk tree, is a member of the bombax family (Bombacaccae). It is a thorny flowering tree native to South America but cultivated as an ornamental in other regions. It grows to a height of about 15 metres and its large pink flowers yield a vegetable silk used in upholstery.
