Caption: Kiwi leaf veins. Macrophotograph of veins in the leaf of a Kiwi plant Actinidia deliciosa (formerly A. chinensis). The main vein (at centre) contains tubular vascular bundles which transport water and dissolved nutrients to and from the leaf. Smaller veins branch diagonally off the main vein. This large vein is covered in trichomes, or leaf hairs. The Kiwi plant, which originated in China, produces an edible fruit.
