Caption: Sebaceous cysts in the skin of the vulva. The small, pale coloured cysts are just left of centre. Sebaceous cysts are formed when ducts from sebaceous glands in the skin become blocked. The most common sites are on the scalp, face, ear and genitalia. As the glands continue to produce sebum, they swell and become cysts. The sebum is composed of fats and waxes. Sebaceous cysts are normally benign, and may be removed by simple surgery if they become too large or infected.
