Caption: Brenner tumour in the ovary. Coloured Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of cells of a Brenner tumour on the surface of a human ovary. Large cuboidal cells of the tumour are seen with borders outlined in three dimensions. The surfaces of these secretory cells (green) are rich in microvilli. These cells form the Brenner tumour, a benign tumour (or fibroepithelioma) of surface epithelial cells of the ovary. Irregularly shaped, these cells are highly proliferative. Named after the German pathologist Fritz Brenner, a Brenner tumour may become very malignant (cancerous). Magnification: x2100 at 6x7cm size.
