Caption: Dissection of the head and neck. 18th century anatomical artwork of a dissection of the muscles of the head and neck. The dissection has removed the lower jaw bone, lower palate and tongue, revealing the structures of the upper palate. The sinus spaces in the cheek bones are also shown. In the throat, the muscles around the trachea (windpipe) are seen. Artwork from around 1745, by the French artist Jacques Fabian Gautier d'Agoty (1717-1786).
