Spirit face. Photograph taken of the face of a spirit summoned during a seance organised by French psychic researchers Geley (1868-1923) and Richet (1850-1935). The photograph was taken using a flashlight under laboratory conditions at the International Metapsychic Institute in Paris during a seance held by Madame Bisson. The Institute was founded in 1920 by Geley and had Richet (who had won a Nobel Prize for physiology in 1913) as its first president. The Institute had been established to experimentally verify spiritualist phenomena. Photograph taken in 1921.
