Caption: Photograph of the skeleton of an adult human right wrist and hand, seen in palm view. The bones comprising the hand are divided into three groups. The small carpal bones (eight in total) form the wrist. The carpals articulate with the metacarpals distally and with the humerus and ulna (the forearm bones) proximally. The five metacarpals are the bones of the palm. The finger and thumb bones are termed phalanges.
