The stomata, the raised lip-like openings on the leaf's surface, control the exchange of gases with the environment. There is a protective layer of crystalline wax (blue/white) secreted over the leaf. Eucalyptus sp. may be taken to prevent colds. Magnification: x1,100 at 6x6cm size.
