Caption: Light micrograph of the interior of a human bone, showing the trabeculae. Large bones are filled with such trabeculae, thin structures containing bone and bone-forming cells (osteocytes). In bones such as the femur the space between these are normally filled with bone marrow, the substance that forms blood. This type of bone is known as cancellous, the outer shell is made of compact bone. Magnification x10 at 6x7cm size.
