Caption: Human hand. Coloured X-ray image of the bones of a normal human hand. At lower frame, the several carpal bones situated in the wrist joint are seen. The palm of the hand consists of five metacarpal bones (lower centre). Fourteen phalanges, three for each finger and two for the thumb (at left), are the bones making up the finger digits.
