Caption: Lemon grass leaf. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the leaf of a lemon grass plant (Cymbopogon citratus). Droplets of the aromatic oil (yellow) which gives the grass its name have been exuded from glands in the leaf's waxy epidermis (green). Stomata (vertical lip- like structures) are pores in the epidermis which allow gaseous exchange. Protective spines can also be seen. Magnification: x160 at 6x7cm size. x250 at 4x5"
