Caption: Muscle. False-colour scanning electron micrograph of a skeletal muscle fibre (magenta), also known as a striated muscle fibre. On its surface capillaries (green) are visible. Skeletal muscles are responsible for the movement of the skeleton and organs such as the tongue and the globe of the eye. Muscle fibres are grouped together into bundles called fasciculi. The pericyte (yellow, at centre) is a cell commonly found along capillaries of the peripheral circulatory system. Their function is to squeeze the capillaries in order to increase the flow of blood.
