Caption: Tendon. Light micrograph of a longitudinal section through connective tissue from a tendon. Tendon connects muscle to bone, or muscle to muscle. It is a dense form of fibrous connective tissue, made up of parallel bundles of collagen (protein) fibres. Here the collagen appears as wavy bands. Tendons are extremely strong, flexible, yet do not stretch. Magnification; x64 at 35mm size.
