Caption: Leaf anatomy. Light micrograph of an epidermal peel taken from the surface of a leaf, showing a pattern of leaf veins. An extensive network of small, thin veins is seen between the larger, thick veins. The veins channel fluids around a leaf. The epidermal peel was obtained using cellulose acetate paper, and was painted with Indian ink and imaged using transmitted light and colour filters.
