The inside (lumen) of the artery is at top, and contains red blood cells (red) and a white blood cell (blue). The wall of the artery is made up of an endothelial lining (purple), smooth muscle (green) and elastic tissue (blue). Coronary arteries supply the thick muscular wall of the heart with blood. Magnification: 2800x when printed 10 centimetreswide.
