Caption: Developing heart cell, computer model. The model is based on fluorescent light microscopy, where fluorescent dyes were used in a binucleate cell to highlight cellular structures and proteins: cardiac actin (blue), cell nucleus (white), protein synthesis (green), adrenoreceptors (red). Actin is a contractile muscle protein. Adrenoreceptors are structures on the surface of a cell triggered by adrenaline and noradrenaline, in this case to increase the heart rate when needed. They are also known as beta receptors.
