Caption: False colour scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a granulocyte (also called a polymorphonuclear leucocyte or polymorph), a type of white blood cell. The series of white blood cells is divided into 2 main classes, granulocytes and agranulocytes, according to the granularity of the cytoplasm and other nuclear characteristics. The granulocytes are further sub-divided into neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils and are differentiated according to their staining characteristics. Magnification: X 1500 at 35mm size.
