Caption: Immune system and cancer. Artwork of T-lymphocyte killer cells (blue) attacking a cancer cell (red, centre). One of the T-killer cells has attached itself to the cancer cell using projections on its body. The cancer cell's outer covering and cellular matrix is being destroyed by the T-killer cell using cytokines which are toxic to the tumour. T-killer cells are a type of white blood cell (leucocyte) and are part of the human immune system.
