Caption: Cortex of thymus. Light micrograph of a section through the cortex of a healthy thymus. At top is the outer capsule (blue). The cortex is densely packed with T-lymphocytes, a type of immune cell. The thymus, found in the neck, is involved in the maturation of T-lymphocytes. They enter the cortex, where they divide while migrating into the inner medulla (not seen), before re-entering general circulation. Magnification unknown.
