Caption: Macro photograph of the floral parts of the Shirley poppy, a garden variety of the common field poppy Papaver rhoeas. The male reproductive organ is seen as a ring of anthers supported by filaments surrounding the central capsule. Pollen grains containing the male gametes are produced here. The capsule, the female reproductive organ, has radiating stigmatic surfaces, seen as pale yellow ridges against the pale green of the capsule body. Magnification: x0.8 at 35mm size.
