Caption: A wild primrose (Primula vulgaris, or P. acaulis). This plant grows to a height of about 15cm, and produces flowers in March and April. This species is also popular in gardens as a border plant, and has been successfully crossed with various polyanthus species. This specimen was photographed in Manifold Valley, Staffordshire, part of the Peak District National Park.
