Caption: Macrophotograph of the flower head of Epiphyllum ackermannii. Pink petals frame the central repro- ductive organs of this flower. Stamens are seen with yellow pollen on their anthers; a multi-lobed white stigma (above centre) is found at the end of a long style. Although Epiphyllum ackermannii is a cactus originally from tropical America, it is not a desert species and is easy to grow as a house plant. This is a cultivated hybrid.
