Caption: Macrophotograph of the flower of an oriental poppy, Papaver orientale. The petals of this cultivated hybrid are white at base, with scarlet tips. Poppies produce large amounts of pollen which is collected by bees, but they produce no nectar. They rely on bright petal colours to attract their bee pollinators. Papaver orientale originates from Armenia.
