Caption: Human brain. At top is the convuluted cerebrum, of which the right cerebral hemisphere is shown. The cerebrum is the largest region of the human brain, where higher thought processes and the co- ordination of voluntary body activity occur. The cerebellum (lower left) is part of the hind-brain and it co-ordinates posture, balance and movement. The brainstem can be seen emerging from the cerebellum. It relays signals to and from the brain to the spinal cord, to which it is connected. An average adult human brain weighs about 1400 grams, around 2% of the total body weight.
