Caption: Limbic system of the brain, composite image based on computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. The front of the brain is at right. The limbic system is a primitive part of the brain involved in emotions such as aggression, fear and pleasure, and in the formation of memories. The large arc-shaped structure across centre is the corpus callosum, which links the two hemispheres of the cerebrum. Below this are the two branches of the caudate nucleus. The two bulb- like olfactory lobes extend to lower right.
