Caption: Healthy sheep brain. Light micrograph of a sagittal section through the brain of a sheep. The black region is a fluid-filled ventricle of the brain. Brain tissue is made up of both white and grey matter. Tracts of nerve fibres form the white matter (coloured white). Grey matter (coloured brown) is composed of nerve cells or neurons. The grey matter forms two bands at centre, and is seen at top. Grey and white matter make up well defined regions in healthy sheep brain.
