Caption: This axial (cross sectional) MRI image of the brain shows the typical appearance of what has been termed ''hippocampal sulcal remnants''. These are normal structures representing embryologic remnants which if one is not aware of could be confused with pathologic lesions. They are seen as small rounded areas of signal along the medial aspect of the hippocampal formation. In this case they are present on the right side of the brain (your left).
