Caption: Dog rose flower. (3rd of 5 images). Close-up of a dog rose (Rosa canina) flower. The reproductive organs of the flower can be seen. The male parts, the stamens, consist of anthers (bright yellow), which are covered in pollen, and supported on long filaments. The female parts, the carpels, are in the centre of the flower (green). The dog rose is a common flower of hedges and scrubland, and flowers between June and July. See photos B760/347-351 for sequence of flower opening.
