Caption: Hermannia. Coloured historical engraving of a branch and flowers of the shrub hermannia (Hermannia sp. ). This shrub is native to Southern Africa. Engraving by Lieutenant William Paterson on his travels around Africa, drawn in 1779, and published in 1822. When first discovered, this plant was erroneously thought to be a new species of geranium.
