Caption: Human view of flower meadow. A wild flower meadow viewed so as to depict the field of human vision. Amongst the flowers seen here are red poppies, blue cornflowers and orange & white daisies. The image is sharply focused only in the middle and becomes more blurred towards the left and right extremities. This illustrates the field of human vision. The total angle of view is 70 degrees, however, the human eye can only sharply focus on the central 5 degrees of vision at any one time. Constant eye movement compensates for this peripheral blurring; caused by fewer light receptor cells at the sides of the human retina. Insect view of same meadow - image P421/003.
