Upwards rolled tongue. Woman sticking her tongue out of her mouth, with the sides of her tongue rolled upwards. The tongue, a complex muscular organ used for taste, chewing, swallowing and speech, can be rolled several different ways. The type of tongue rolling ability is determined by genetics. This individual has a genetic makeup that allows upwards tongue rolling. This is the ability demonstrated by the vast majority of those who can roll their tongues. For the rarer inverted and clover tongue rolls, see images P474/022 and P474/024.
