Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Inverted tongue roll. Man rolling the sides of his tongue downwards in an inverted tongue roll. The tongue, a complex muscular organ used for taste, chewing, swallowing and speech, can be rolled several different ways. The type of tongue rolling ability is determined by genetics. This individual has a genetic makeup that allows the rare downwards rolling of the tongue. This is found in less than one percent of the population. For the more common upwards and clover tongue rolls, see images P474/021 and P474/024.
