Caption: False-colour, three-dimensional image of normal organs comprising part of the human digestive system, reconstructed from computed X-ray tomography (CT) scan data. Bone of the ribs and spine is coloured yellow. Body organs are viewed from behind. The stomach and duodenum appear in purple; the pancreas is green and the kidneys turquoise. The liver is red, and the white object at bottom right is the gall bladder. Images of this type may be useful to surgeons planning difficult operations, for example, in the removal of tumours located very close to vital organs or blood vessels.
