Caption: Digestive system. Artwork of organs forming the digestive system. The stomach (pink) is a storage organ for food and secretes gastric juices which continue the breakdown of food started in the mouth. The pancreas (brown) secretes pancreatic juice into the small intestine. The liver (red) produces bile which contributes to the fat digestion in the small intestine. The green pear- shaped organ behind the liver is the gallbladder where bile is stored. The small intestine (lower centre) completes the digestive process and the residue passes through the colon (larger tube at centre) to the rectum (not shown here).
