Caption: Fallopian tube. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the ciliated mucosal lining of a Fallopian tube (oviduct). The Fallopian tubes are the muscular tubes down which the ova (eggs, the female sex cells) pass from the ovaries to the uterus following ovulation. The waving motion of the cilia (yellow), plus muscular contractions, moves an egg along the tube. Magnification: x625 at 6x7cm size.
