Caption: Cell division. Image 2 of 4. Fluorescent light micrograph of a human (HeLa) cell dividing by mitosis, the asexual replication of a cell into two new cells. This is late anaphase, the mitosis stage where the genetic material has separated. The genetic material is contained in chromatids (dark blue), which were drawn apart by their centromeres (light blue dots) along microtubule spindles (red). The protein helping this movement is dynein (green). The line of cleavage (centre) has started to form. The image has been enhanced by a technique named deconvolution.
