Athlete movement research. Reflective tags on a footballer's boot for use in three-dimensional motion analysis. The footballer performs actions in a room equipped with 12 cameras. Laser lights shine on the reflectors from the cameras. Each reflector is highly directional, allowing the camera to discern its exact position. A computer then combines results from reflectors all over the athlete's body into a three-dimensional image, allowing researchers to study body movements in detail.
