Caption: Avebury henge, Wiltshire, UK. These stones are part of Avebury henge, a Neolithic monument dating to around 5000 years ago. The monument consists of earthworks, known as dykes, situated in a large ditch. Many of the original stones were destroyed so the land could be used for building and agricultural purposes from the early 14th Century onwards.
