Caption: Replica of Galileo's telescope, the first type of astronomical telescope, built in 1609 by Galileo from a design of 'magic tubes' by Hans Lippershey. It is made from a single long-focus object lens & a powerful negative lens as the eyepiece. Galileo's best telescopes had a magnification of about 30 times.
