The panel at left gives information on the MERLIN network of radio telescopes operated from Jodrell Bank. The two rows of dials at right give the sidereal time & universal time. Sidereal time is measured by reference to the rotation of Earth with respect to the stars; the sidereal day is 23 hours, 56 minutes, 4.091 seconds long.
