This herbaceous plant is native to the eastern Mediterranean region and southwest Asia. As well as its use as a flavouring, Aniseed is also used in herbal medicine for conditions of the bronchial system. It is given as a digestive tonic to help with wind and colic. Magnification: x77 when printed 10 centimetres high.
