Caption: Meteorite. Fragment of an iron meteorite. Iron meteorites (siderites) are remnants from the formation of the solar system which fall to Earth from space. This fragment has been etched with acid to reveal its crystal structure, a unique structure called Widmanstatten. The large-grained structure forms very slowly in zero gravity.
