Caption: Anemone flower. Macrophotograph of the centre of an anemone flower (Anemone coronaria) showing the reproductive parts. At centre are a mass of carpels, the female parts of the flower. Each has a white-tipped style onto which pollen is deposited during pollination. Around the base of the carpels are the stamens (best seen in bottom frame). These are the male parts of the flower, with anthers bearing dark blue pollen grains. This flower is pollinated by insects, which carry pollen from flower to flower as they feed on nectar. This is the De Caen hybrid of this anemone. Magnification: x3.3 at 35mm size.
