Caption: Maat Mons, Venus. Computer-generated false- colour 3D view of a Venusian landscape, looking toward Maat Mons. This 5 kilometre high volcano appears in the centre of the horizon. Radar-bright lava flows dominate the surrounding scene. In the foreground (toward bottom right) is an impact crater. This view was made by combining radar imaging and altimetry data from the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft, extending the vertical scale by a factor of 10. The colours were suggested by previous photographic data. The viewpoint is 634 km north of Maat Mons at an elevation of 3km above the local terrain.
